Mind-Body Consultations

Mind-Body consultations include art therapy, movement therapy, sand tray work, and meditation training.

Art therapy uses artistic creations and the issues that come up during their creation to increase the awareness of self, cope with symptoms, stress, and traumatic experiences, increase cognitive abilities, and to enjoy the life-affirming pleasures of artistic creativity.

Movement therapy is interested in the conscious perception of the body in the “here and now” against the background of the individual life and learning story. Through the concentrative engagement with early levels of experience, memories are brought to life and appear in bodily expression as posture, movement, and behavior. Through the movement work, the biographical material is made topical so that a correlation can be made between what a person has experienced and that person’s life story.

Sandplay therapy is a process intended to facilitate the emotional healing and full personal development of clients. The therapist utilizes a safe environment that may sometimes involve dreamwork, talk therapy, or other methods of opening to the imagination. The client is given the opportunity to choose from hundreds of tiny objects and figures in order to create a picture of an inner “world” or symbols for different aspects of the Self. The therapist and client interpret the layers of meaning in the sand tray together.
