Exercise physiology is the study of the body’s responses to exercise/movement on a cellular level. Exercise physiologists help people to maintain or improve their physical and mental health through movement. An exercise physiologist can assess your current state of fitness and health and prescribe a plan to improve any deficiencies or enhance an already fit and healthy individual.
Regular physical activity and exercise have been shown to reduce the risk of developing heart disease and hypertension, obesity and diabetes, depression and dementia and certain types of cancer, as well as to reduce the severity of these same conditions when they are already present. The human body requires movement, so working with an exercise physiologist can help individuals achieve a better state of being. Through personal training, the exercise physiologist and client can develop an ongoing relationship to meet the clients' fitness and health goals.
